Item came from the Estate Sale of R F Kennedy administrative assistant Earl G Graves Sr, of which we have several items posted on .Earl G Graves Sr having written a letter to the Democratic National Committee, he became a volunteer for the 1964 presidential campaign of Lyndon B. Johnson. His work with the party lead Graves the opportunity to serve as administrative assistant to newly elected Senator Robert F. Kennedy in 1965.

On April 4, 1968, Kennedy learned of the assassination ofMartin Luther King, Jr. and gave a heartfelt impromptu speech in Indianapolis\'s inner city, in which Kennedy called for a reconciliation between the races. Riots broke out in 60 cities in the wake of King\'s death, but not in Indianapolis, a fact many attribute to the effect of this speech.
