5 Antique Spun Cotton Christmas Ornaments. This is the last of my collection. 30 years of collecting Christmas and my husband, Mr. Scrooge has decided he does not like spun cotton, plastic, or really old ornaments. My loss is your gain.
Please enlarge and look at all 12 photos closely. None are perfect and the orange ( or Sugar Plum) was included because you don\'t see them often. Unfortunately that one has the most issues.
This lot includes:
Mushroom:No splits, painted, no mica flecks. The very bottom has dark brown paint that is mostly worn off. The wire to hold on the branch is very short and broken off. I did not try to use it for fear it would break. You may want to glue in a second wire for actual use.
Orange / Sugar Plum:Lightly covered with mica. Measures about 2/12\" tall, or 3 1/2\" as the tape measure wraps around from top to bottom. Lots of what I call splits. Photos # 8 - #11 are all of the orange. When you touch the bottom split, you feel the soft cotton poking through. The top split is stiff at the split. I suspect years ago glue was applied there to prevent further unravel.
Round Pink with hints of yellow fruit:An occasional sparkle of mica, but very little is left. A drip mark from candle wax, on the fruit and one drip of wax still hanging from the original leaf. So sweet.
Large Pear #1: Nice with only one split in the pink. (Shown in photo # 4). Mica dusted. Measures 3\" tall.
Small Pear #2: The most perfect antique spun cotton ornament I\'ve own. No splits. Mica more heavy. Very light soiling that appears to be soot.
All loops are nice and solid. I try it point out flaws, that others may regard as typical wear, because I want you to \"see\" everything, and make your own determination about condition and value.
