Description

This is a most beautiful set of antique scenic plates I have had the pleasure to bring to market. The porcelain form used is fine quality Haviland Limoges porcelain with 28 deep scallops. They are plates that curve up alot on edge (almost like a very shallow bowl). The bold gilt gold border decoration makes these really special. There are NINE plates (plus 2 with staples repairs added in as a bonus at no cost).

MATERIAL: Hand painted French porcelain.

SIZE: Each about 8 1/2\" in diameter.

MARKS: On reverse ~ H&Co over Depose in green (Haviland & Cie mark used c.1887), artist initials and hand painted date.

CONDITION: Antique item. Of the 9 plates (not including the 2 with the staple repairs), the issues are few . Plate #8 has a chip on the under foot. A few other plates has extremely minor irregularities on the bottom feet. Some plates have wear to the hand painting along the ribs of the scallops. Two plates have small rim blemishes and two others have a tiny gold loss spot. These issues are shown on the photos below. All have some level of wear to the gold rim, but nothing that takes away from the overall look. Sells \"as is\". I tried to find every little blemish, but please expect that there may be a few hard to find ones that I may have missed. Overall, the set of 9 is in great shape.

Of the two bonus plates (the 10th and 11th plates) with staple repairs, the one with the cattails has a staples repair right through the center, but it is so amazing done you will not even know it until you turn the plate over. The plate with the boat has many staple repairs which are visible on the front. Both of the staple repair plates have gold wear issues. Scan down to the very last photos to see these issues.
