A Pair of Small Scottish Georgian Cast Bronze Quaichs, Circa 1820-1830:
$15.69

We are offfering an unusual pair of small Scottish cast bronze quaichs. This form of quaich, with distinctive rounded lugs dates from the early 19th century. Several examples of very similar form are known which are inscribed to the effect that they were made from the bronze of the bells of the Tron Kirk Edinburgh which had been severely damaged in the great fire of 1824. These quaichs were made in the same year as souvenirs of the event.
In many years, this is the only matching pair of quaichs of this from that I have seen. They are in good condition with minor distortions and bumps that one expects with nearly two hundred years of use. They are heavy in the hand and have a nice warm colour and patina.
Weight of the pair: 238 gramsWidth across the handles: 8.8cmsDiameter of the bowl: 6.2cms
