An Exquisite William IV Solid Silver Gilt Vinaigrette Box by the renowned Silversmith Nathaniel Mills.
This beautiful little Vinaigrette Box is of the highest quality featuring a superbly intricate pierced grille demonstrating outstanding workmanship, an attached loop for a chain and also the original sponge.
The front and back have an engine turned wavy pattern. The front includes a central cartouche with the initials S B in a gothic style script.
The Vinaigrette is fully hallmarked for Birmingham with the date letter L for 1834.
Condition wise the box is extremely good with no cracks or dinks to the surface, the hinge to the box is as it should be and closes fine. The grille fits perfectly over the inner sponge however as can be seen in the photographs the inner hinge which allows the grille to be raised has snapped in two and requires a tiny repair.

The box measures 41 mm x 28 mm x 20 mm and weighs 30 g.
