This is a beautiful antique sterling silver Victorian circa 1890 Scottish agate lovers knot brooch.
I have collected agates in Scotland for over 20 years and know where most of the lovely gemstones that Victorians used for their classic jewellery were found.
The lovely selection of stones are classic orange Campsie Fells jaspers from Stirlingshire, green bloodstone from the Isle of Rum mustard jasper from the Campsie Fells and grey banded agate from Montrose.
The brooch has no hallmarks which is fairly normal for brooches of this period, but has been fully tested and is sterling silver.The length is 4.3 cm ( One and three quarter inches ) and the pin and C clasp are in good working condition and original.
