Anton Schaller (1773-1844)
Anton Schaller was the brother of Johann Nepomuk Schaller (1777-1842), who is known as one of the Nazarenes in Rome. He studied under Hagebauer and from 1789 at the porcelain manufactory in Vienna, where he was working from 1800 onwards. He paused in 1807 because of an eye disease, but started again in 1818/26. In 1831, he became a professor at the Viennese Academy. Drawings by Anton Schaller can be found in the Albertina in Vienna, amongst others, and are very rare in the art market.
