This is part of the group that we purchased that had San Francisco and California ties.
It consists of Civil War soldiers and officers. We will be listing more Civil War images. The opening offer is our reserve.
This is an interesting antique CDV, or Carte de Visite. It is a portrait of a handsome man wearing a Civil War Union Army uniform with officer\'s epaulettes. The officer sports a Buffalo Bill beard and mustache! This was taken by B. F. Troxell of Brooklyn, New York. This is part of the San Francisco related group we purchased, although this is a New York CDV. The portrait is a lovely and rich sepia brown and has very good contrast. The CDV is by 2 1/2 by 4 3/8 inches. Please note there is a pale stain at the lower left edge of the photo, outside the portrait oval. Just below that, the card has a very light stain. These are not large or obnoxious. We estimate this to be from about 1862 or so. What a nice portrait of a handsome Civil War Officer!Please email any questions regarding the photo and shipping.
