\" Cutty Sark \" the legendary sailing ship was designed by Linton, who gave her the broad and powerful stern, which was an advantage in the ` roaring forties ` of the latitudes of the southern ocean with the notorious heavy following seas, she was the fastest of them all.

To any one with a love of the sea and ships, prior to the terrible fire,no visit to London was complete without a pilgrimage down river to gaze upon the \" Cutty Sark \" in all her glory, and to recall the important part she played in maritime history and the Australian wool trade.

The artist, John Allcot, was born in West Derbyshire, England on 13 November 1888, and like so many of us drifted away to sea as a young boy, at every opportunity he would paint the ships, life aboard, and the sea, which undoubtedly helped him to become one of the truly great marine artists. He painted Cutty Sark a number of times, and this is possibly the best one, it is most certainly on the best paper, whenwe have framed itin the past ( not the one on offer here. which is not offeredframed) you cannot tell it from the original painting.

John Allcotsadly passed awayon the13th ofJuly 1973 .

This magnificent art print was produced by Mr John McCullagh by his CopperfieldPublishing Company in the late eighties.John McCullagh was in my humble opinion one of Australia\'s if not the Worlds most competent publisherof art books and art prints due to his unique ability and attention to detail.

This great marine piece was produced on a 200 gsm heavy artpaper, and as alway\'s stored flat in one of my print cabinets in mint condition, the measurements are 505mm x 635mm, or in the old measure 20 x 25 inc.The image itself is 14 x 18inches or 355 x 455mm, I have the full information on this magnificent sailing ship, and it\'s history which can be posted with the art print in the tube if asked for.

Thank you forvisiting, may the winds favour you and yours, and good luckwhenofferding, kind regards Paul.
