A rare and tiny pantry box which held a gift of figs in the early 19th Century. Cover is stamped with the words, \" Washed figs put up expressly for Taylors Saloon.\" Measures 2\" Tall x 4 7/8th Long x 3\" Wide. From a recent Maine sale. Surface is all original and beautifully oxidized to a dry, dark primitive appearance. 2 finger laps are tacked with early small nails. Seams are tight. Interior is clean and unpainted. In excellent and well-made antique condition. A rare find for any Americana collection.
