This is one of the largest sewing whimsies of its type I have seen, and in the best overall condition. The velvet is an orange/red shade. All the beadwork and fabric is original and intact.
The ram was created in raised beadwork to appear three dimensional and is surrounded by sprays in Sioux or apple green and bottle green. The word “SOUVENIR” is beaded on the front, with clear and navy blue beaded wing like sprays beneath.
The interior is lined in royal blue cotton with a padded middle section for pins and needles and a slit sleeve to hold thread packets.
The bottom dangles are a myriad of colors and the double twined handle is original to the piece. There is a snap closure intact.
MEASURES: Body: 6.5 inches wide by 4.5 inches high; 13.25 inches long from top of handle to bottom of dangles; Unfolded: body is 11.25 inches long minus handle and dangles.
It is a wonderful, imaginative and superbly executed piece of Iroquois beadwork.
