For your consideration today we’re offering a vintage 1940\'s-50s JOSEFF OF HOLLYWOOD Art Nouveau style brooch. This pin features a wreath of leaves/vines and a swinging primate.
This brooch comes to you in NEW OLD STOCK, NEVER WORN CONDITION. It’s just one of many pieces that we have recently acquired from a large, JOSEFF collection. Amassed over many years, all of this collection is NOS, never worn, and many items retain their original JOSEFF display cards. We will be offering brooches, necklaces, bracelets and earrings from this group in the coming weeks.
The brooch we’re offering in this sale comes to you in very good, pre-owned condition and appears to have never been worn. There’s no tarnish, dents or missing stones.
Piece is quite large and measures approximately 3.25\" diameter. It fastens securely with a safety catch. Theme is that of a vining wreath with a monkey attached in middle. This charm is secured via jump-ring so there’s movement or “swinging” when you move. The bottom is highlighted with a large, diamond shaped stone. Stone is dark garnet red in color and is prong-set.

HISTORYEugene JOSEFF designed the majority of jewelry used in Hollywood films from the late 1930\'s through the Early 1950\'s. He designed everything from Clark Gable\'s (Rhett Butler) cigar case in Gone With The Wind, 1939, to earrings worn by Marilyn Monroe in Some Like It Hot, 1959. He designed his pieces in a distinctive matte gold so as not to reflect light under cameras for the cinema and television.
