Louis Wain, 1860-1939 was famous for his art of cats as people. This is one of a lengthy series of reference magazines by Loraine Burdick devoted to paper toys of all kinds, both by topic and by the famous people from movies and stage and magazine features that related to them. The cover has 5 samples of his art from a magazine depicting how he drew when he went insane from his schizophrenia--but it was still his beloved cats.The 16 page magazine is black and white but dealing chiefly with his art as it related to dolls and toys. A cat paper doll family of 4 is Wain dolls and Burdick added outfits; 4 pages are his paper dolls with costumes and accessories published in the US on fancy bags for gifts; Then there are several pages of comic art loaded with cats that appeared in Sunday comics in the United States, and Cat-Tales reproduced from the American comic series with acompanying stories by T. B. Faucett including a parade for a golf champion watched by happy and angry people, a rooster, and cat kids scared by a cow feature that appeared Nov. 13, 1910 in USA comic sections. Most of the pictures oin this and the full book listed elsewhere are from Sunday comics sections of t he 1910-1912 era.
