The soft green fabric of her dressis complimented by the ribbon and bow to her hat. Gilded details include thebuttons and trims to her jacket, gold stud earrings and to the ribbon on thecarefully-wrapped present.

We Wish You a Merry Christmas datesback to the 16th century when it was performed as the last song byEngland’s West Country carol singers. Itwas also a hint for the house holders to reward the singers with a small treat –initially a figgy pudding (a kind of Christmas pudding) but nowadays, a mincepie.
