On offer a superb rare large Antique Spanish solid silver casket/ box in the form of a Galician Horreo Gallego ( Gallego Granary ) .The Granary Gallego.It is a type of construction used to protect fruits mainly corn harvest. The Granary is stored, dry and preserves the grain, that requires good ventilation, insulation and moisture protection, well as an adequate system of defense against insects and rodents.The Galician granaries are rectangular and are made of stone, Asturias unlike are square.Its origin is not clear, one hypothesis is that it started with the Roman Empire, another theory is that it comes from Celtic times and was later enhanced with important adaptations by Romans, is likely to be the contribution pillars Roman.The Granary is raised from the ground by pillars for better aeration, these are topped by rounded plates to prevent access to rodents barn. The columns are monolithic and have variable forms designed geometric simplicity always.
Stands on Two raised silver platforms with textured markings, on a marble base, hinged cover, Red velvet interior . Beautifully decorated in exquisite detail, in relief , hinged cover with a cross on top and is extremely well crafted .Made from a thick heavy gauge of silver. Excellent condition for age, few tiny surface marks, would benefit from a professional clean, in all the nooks. Marked as seen in photo\'s, with a Bold Cross in a cirlcle & a capital E, Acid tested as silver GUARANTEED. Stands 7.4 inches, 6.8 inches long, 4 inches wide that\'s the Granary, measurements, Including marble base the measurements are , stands 8 inches , 5.8 inches wide,8.1 inches long, weight a massive 2275 grams.
