Antique RARE c.1875 CHRISTOFLE & CIE Japanese Damascened Raised Silver/Copper Dish Plate

Here is a very interesting and RARE raised dish or plate
Made by the prominent French silversmith Christofle & Cie., but made in a Japanese manner with a characteristic rosette decoration up front
Made of copper, heavily silver damascened with Oriental/Japanese patterns
Damascened patination up front in a very intricate pattern surrounding a central medallion
Inscribed up front on the rim 18-25 MARS 1875 - meant to commemorate an event during the 18-25 March, 1875 period, most likely pertaining to Japan-French relations. The period is during the French military mission to Japan (1872–80)
Inscribed on the back side of the rim - CHRISTOFLE & CIE.
We found some information on Christofle in Japan during the period in the book \"The Industries of Japan\" by Johannes Justus Rein (1835-1918), who was sent by the Prussian government and created an account of Japan\'s industry, agriculture, forestry, arts and commerce - \"Christofle employs Japanese decorative themes very frequently; an entire division of his large and rich exhibition was devoted to Japanese styles...\"PLEASE SCROLL DOWN THE PAGE FOR MORE PHOTOS!
