RARE Disney Imagineering JACK FERGES\' minature 1950\'s Train Station Model:
$2399.99

This sale is for a very RARE Train station model built in the early 1950\'s by Walt Disney\'s first Imagineering artist Jack Ferges. Jack was an early animator for Walt Disney until he joined the Army from 1946-1950. He joined Walt Disney again in his bullpen animation department. Jack stood 6\'6\" and was nicknamed TINY by all his fellow animators. People were amazed at all the miniature models that he would make with his huge hands. One day, Walt comes in and asks Jack Ferges and Blaine Gibson to join a new engineer department to be called Walter Elias Disney Enterprise (WED) to create models for a new amusement park that will be called Disneyland. Along with Rolly Crump, they started creating all the miniature models for the park along with the larger sculptures. Jack would only spend time to create models for Disneyland. When Disneyland opened, there was Frontierland with live Conestoga Wagon rides, Stage Coach ride, Pack Mule rides and the 1956 Rainbow Caverns MIne Ride through the Living Desert. I believe this is one of Jack Ferges\' early model for the Train Ride that was purchased from his estate sale. Jack continued to be a major model designer for Walt Disney for an additional 40+ years. He had made many miniature models and large models throughout the decades for the Thunder Mountain ride (former Mine Train ride), Haunted Mansion, It\'s a Small World, Disney World and Epcot Center and so on. His name is on a sign Jack O\'Ferges on the ride and along Main Street stores. Later, the department became the Walt Disney Imagineering. This model was from his wife\'s estate sale hosted by their friend Sharon Yost. This is an amazing intricate model created by the huge hands of Jack Ferges. The Imagineering team used Jack\'s hands as a model for Abraham Lincoln in the \"Great Moments with Lincoln\". Here is a chance to own a original model created by Jack Ferges, one of Walt Disney\'s master Imagineer. It is so intricate that is hard to believe that his huge hands could create this beautiful one-of-a-kind piece. It measures 12\" high, 15\" length, and 11\" wide and encased in a custom plastic display box.Jack\'s business card is included and a small sketch from his art book. Here is an opportunity to own an actual model (only one available on the market) from Disney\'s Imagineering legend Jack Ferges.\"The giant who built tiny marvels, Jack Ferges was, according to his colleagues, \"a big man with a big heart who knew how to create beautiful miniature models and soon became a legend of Imagineering\"\"Like Blaine Gibson, Jack Ferges was an animator wo sculpted as a hobby. While at WED, Jack was both a sculptor and a model-maker, handling such projects as Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, It\'s a Small World, Mr. Toad\'s Wild Ride, Jouney into Imagination, the Jungle Cruise, the Country Bear Jamboree and under the direction of Rolly Crump, the unrealized Dumbo\'s Circusland project. His last project was Maelstrom for the Norway Pavilion at Epcot and he ritired around 1987.\"I also, will include Jack Ferges\' business card from his office at Walt Disney Imagineering where he was the Production designer.
