HN1 DarlingThe highly desirable figure, the first of the HN series, was designed by Charles VyseVyse served his apprenticeship at the Doulton works in Burslem where he trained under Charles NokeDoulton produced many of his figures before he started his own pottery in Chelsea in 1919.
Marked on the base with the Royal Doulton backstamp and \'Darling\' by C. Vyse, Sc., Potted by Doulton & Co.Underneath the model name, is No. 148 -In the book Royal Doulton Figurines by Desmond Eyles & Richard Dennis, it is noted that\"An exact record was kept of the models completed between 1913 and 1917. The total number completed was 680. Darling was a clear favourite with 148 being completed.\"This piece is numbered 148, so it can be dated at being made no later than 1917 - so this little Darling is now 100 years old!
There are additional markings on this piece:On the interior is the HN number - H.N.1 - 579On the reverse it is signed C. Vyse Sc. 1913 - the year Darling was introduced.
In excellent, undamaged condition with no chips, cracks and no restoration.
