This is a beautiful antique French timeworn church statue that dates from the late 1800s/early 1900s.
I have left it just as I found it and it will clean if required. I have simply brushed away the dust. This statue and another similar came to me from a private chateau chapel. Please see myother itemsfor the similar piece.
Made of heavyweight plaster this figure is a beautiful large winged angel.
It has taken on a soft French grey with the passage of time and amazingly has only a few knocks and chips which certainly do not detract in any way.
There is a chip on the hand where the plaster looks bright ( see pics) this could very easily be darkened) There are some very fine cracks and I have a feeling this may have been repaired a long time ago. It certainly does not detract from this timeworn treasure - see photographs.
The wings are amazing and splay right to the base of the figure and are beautifully detailed with plumes.
The gown falls in folds and the angel holds some kind of a casket that is a dark old gold in colour.
The figure stands on a octagonal plinth and measures:
Height 17.5\"
Width max ( at wings) 7\"
This is a genuine church piece full of faded grandeur. Still dusty and a little TLC with a soft brush will be beneficial.
