San Juan/San Felipe Pueblo potter Myrtle Cato\'s \"Pumpkin Pot\" - P 17:
$135.50

San Juan/San Felipe Pueblo potter Myrtle Cato\'s \"Pumpkin Pot\" 5\" high x 5\" wide. Myrtle is a self taught potter since she had no family influence to guide her. She became friends with Tina Garcia, Santa Clara Pueblo, while in school and they have exchanged pottery tips throughout the years. Myrtle was born in 1953 and has been making pottery since 1979. She gathers the Micaceous Clay for her work from the San Juan Pueblo and fires her pots in the traditional style. She then takes the extra step to hand polish each of her pieces to give them a satin finish. Myrtle has won awards at the Santa Fe Indian Market - New Mexico State Fair - and the Gallup Inter-Tribal Ceremonial where she took 1st Place two consecutive years.I bought this piece from Myrtle in 1986 at Santa Fe Indian MarketThanks for looking
