Fresh out of an early Maine estate collection.
Circa 1800s, large purse with rare outstanding 800 or other silver handle. Purse measures 12\" x 8\", black velvet. The silver handle is spectacular, hallmarked as seen in photos. The handle measuresapproximately 7\" in length and is intricatelyembellished including people, birds and more.Interior has a separate section with a smaller purse.
Beautiful, have never seen a better example. weighs well over 8 ounces on a postal scale. Shows expected wear. probably Dutch or German.
Place this silver handle on a beaded purse and it would be magnificent.
