Sowing Joy

This is the first of the Enesco, Jim Shore Christmas Plates. It is rimed in red with “Christmas” at the top and “2005” at the center bottom. Between the word and date are swirls of blue-green and green with blossoms of rich burgundy and red, this all on an antique ivory background. An inside ring of lavender separates the outer design from the focus of the plate. A village of pastel houses in blue, pink and peach is nestled among mint colored trees and icy blue swirling snow. A snowman with black top hat, broom and dark lavender vest sits at the edge of the village. Above the hamlet is an Angel protruding from the surface of the plate, she is spreading snowflakes and Christmas joy over the sleepy town below. The tips of her wings extend about ¼ of an inch above the plate; she is three dimensional and protrudes about ¾ of an inch away from the plate. She has a wire halo over her yellow/gold hair that flows in curls out past her shoulders. Her gown is very light pink with swirls of blue-green, green and red similar to the edge design on the plate itself. The sleeves on her gown are a rich plum color. Strapped over her shoulder is a long quilt patterned bag of “Ohio Star” in red on ivory and navy blue squares. This bag is filled with the snowflakes that she is genteelly let flutter to earth.

The plate is just shy of an 8 inch diameter. It comes with a metal easel plate stand or has a metal holder on the back for wall hanging. This is a new item and comes in the original box with Styrofoam and hang tag. There are no chips, cracks or flaws on this plate. © 2005
