Rarest of lanterns. This one is marked ADAMS & WESTLAKE CO. CHICAGO-ELKHARDT-NEW YORK, on upper lid outside and A. A. R. R. (Ann Arbor Rail Road, Michigan) ADLAKE No. 250 KERO on inner upper lid. Then MADE IN USA NOV 28-1911 APRIL1-1913 MAY 9-1922 CANADA 1921-1923 PATS. PENDING, all on outer rim of lid.
One\'s like thisjust don\'t exist much outside of private collections. I had to look at the stamp a few times. I have not seen one exactly like it and none have sold online that I could find. I found a few other Ann Arbor lanterns, but not like this one by Adlake. And, Ann Arbor was the only line that went by A. A.. I thought perhaps Arcade & Attica had at one time, but they did not. The No. 250 Adlake was produced from 1925-1930 before the No. 300-400\'s came along.
So if you are a collector looking for rare lanterns, this is for you. The lantern is in really great shape, but still needs some cleaning. I gently cleaned a goodbit of Kero discharge from inside and out.
It has only a few dings in thetop, but they do not effect appeal of lantern. I don\'t think it was ever painted from what I can see & the bottom is in great shape for a lantern that was used a bunch. Some of the bell bottom wiring is not perfectly circular, but you can adjust that. It has a nice # 250 Adlake Burner with a wick in place, maybe 90 years old, but it is there. Everything seems complete, except the 2nd small pole setscrew for top spring insert, but it does not effect the functioning or appeal of lantern.
Very nice Adlake Kero globe with MACBETH marked on the back.

I usually pack globe out of lantern with loads of cushioning around all items.
