I have travelled around the worldover the last 20 years both for volunteer work and for pleasure. I am also a collector at heart and make an effort toseek out interestingsouvenirs, and one of the thingsI focused on was collecting weapons from the countries I visited. I am not a professional antique appraiser, and I have never met anybody else that collects old weapons. I have gained my knowledge from talking to people, lots of searching, and visiting museums. DESCRIPTION –

This isone of the most prized pieces of my collection of tribal weapons. I purchasedthis spear and axe togetheraround 15years ago from a market that was close to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. I went around the whole market asking if anybody had any old weapons and one guy said he had his grandfather\'s weapons at his traditional home in the bush. It was a six hour journey and would cost millions of dollars (this was during the Zim dollar hyperinflation), but I convinced him to get them and meet me the next day by saying I would bring stuff from my baggage to barter. We met the next day and to my surprise he followed through. We sat and haggled for over an hour until we reached a deal for some green US dollars and a pile of clothes, shoes, pens and sunglasses. The axe and spear were used by the man\'s grandfather who had died many years previously, iand t was said that the axe had been used to kill two Hippo for meat. The spear is about 47\" long and the axe is about 19\"x9\". The spear has very nice smooth patina that shows it was handled and used for a long time by human hands. The axe is made from the knob of a root and is avery nice example of the oldBatongastyle axe common from Old Rhodesia / Zimbabwe. Both blades arefirm but both axe and spear have wear and tear and cracks in the wood, and surface rust on blades.

CONDITION –Knifeis in good vintagecondition as shown and described.
