- Here is a beautiful letter box from the WWII period
- Open work carving up top, deep relief of an elephant and palm tree, with the name ELIZABETH REED and AFRICA, as well as a winged five-point star, which was the logo of the US Air Force from around 1942 to shortly after-war
- All hand carved, a great piece of Folk Art
- Made for a WWII period US Military nurse by the name of Elizabeth Reed
- Some research on this is definitely needed
- Made of quality native hardwood, possibly Mahogany
- Locking mechanism up front
- Dovetail jointing, brass hinges
