Offeredin this sale is a typical Cardigan shape walking stick handle with a Cocker Spanieltype dogs head carved on the front. Thehandle has been cut from a very nicely figured piece ofrippled Sycamore and requires very little work to achieve completion. The nose is marked out in pencil merely for display purpose. The grain is running through the length of the handle for maximum strength.

The handle is a very comfortable shape for a gentleman but will require reducing to some degree if intended for a ladies use.

It requiresadditional workin respect of drilling out the eye sockets and then texturing to replicate fur. The ears, under chin and neck have been textured as a guide to what can be done, and the remainder of the head needs finishing.Colouring can be done with wood dyes or acrylic paints to your own specification (or leave natural)before fitting to a nice shank. Finally fitting a pair of4or 5mm eyesand thenvarnishing or oiling asyou choose.

The base has been centredand drilled out to accept 8mm bar or can be enlarged to accommodate a dowel on the end of your chosen shank. The base is squared(90 degrees to the jointing barand is ready for fitting to a shank of a maximum 25mm diameter, this will allow for fining down at the point of marriage to blend handle with shank.

Dimensions are: Length - Tip of nose torear of handle180mm, Height - Top of headto point of marriage 100mm, Width of handle at the back is 45mm and at the back of the dogs neck across the ears.
