1902: Andersen\'s Fairy Tales
This is a c1902 book titled \"Andersen\'s Fairy Tales,\" by Hans Andersen. There are 12 fairy tales on 125 pages with great black and white graphics plus one major color plate of the famous Mermaid. Book was published by Graham and Matlack of New York. The book is translated from Danish (original language) by Carl Siewers, a famous translator of Danish books. Siewers was translating Andersen books as early as 1887, and one book seller lists this book as published in 1902. The hard back book has no dust jacket and the color pictorial paste-on front cover illustration is torn and partly missing. Early owner\'s name is hand-written on inside cover. The binding is loose but all pages are present, and there is foxing and other marks on the inside pages. Still, very readable with wonderful graphics. No artist name is given and there is no table of contents. Stories include: The Tinder Box, Little Klaus and Big Klaus, Little Ida\'s Flowers, Lizzie Thumb, The Travelling Companion, The Little Mermaid, The Emperor\'s New Suit, The Steadfast Tin Soldier, The Wild Swans, The Flying Trunk, The Storks, and The Bronze Pig.
