This ~Velveteen Rabbit~ is a WONDERFUL piece from renown Folk Artist, Kathi Lorance Bejma\'s, ~K.D. Vintage~ Past Holidays Collection. It is a genuine, authorized reproduction of Kathi Bejma\'s original art work. The delightful creature is crafted from papier maché (paper mache) formed in an antique mold; covered is soft, distressed velveteen; and lovingly aged & tea-stained with soft pastel accents. This Bunny looks like he\'s been hidden away for years, nestled in crumpled tissue paper, in a trunk in Grandmother\'s attic. He makes an absolutely ethereal Easter decoration!

This delightful Rabbit figurine is fashioned exactly like an antique German figural candy container. Originally, candy containers and figurals like these were the products of cottage industry and made in German homes or very small firms, from either a fixed design or a mold. They were all hand decorated. Their bodies were hollow to hold candy, nuts, and treats for Christmas, Halloween, and Easter. Children delighted in discovering the \"treasures\" that these papier maché figures concealed.

Like its ancestors, this large Rabbit has a hollow body; and his head removes at the neck. He has has brilliant black glass, shoe button eyes. His neck is adorned with sage green and cream thin satin ribbons tied in a bow and decorated with a pink satin ribbon rosebud. The Rabbit\'s velveteen coat is shaded in sepia tones, and the inside of his ears are dyed pale pink. He has a precious pink nose, too. The \"seams\" on the Rabbit\'s body have the look of much-loved, timeworn stitching.

The Bunny measures 10½-inches high. He holds a walnut brown wicker basket between his outstretch paws. The basket can be filled with Easter grass and additional treats; like small, speckled candy eggs. (Not included.)

The craftsmanship on this piece is incredible. It looks just like an authentic, vintage candy container! And, its soft, velvety texture is wonderful! He reminds me of one of my favorite childhood books, The Velveteen Rabbit, by Margery Williiams.

This imported piece is brand new and unused. It is in MINT condition and ready for your holiday decorating! Lovingly distressed, its \"worn\" finish and soft, muted colors give this Bunny a very \"antique\" or \"vintage\" feel and appearance. This Rabbit Container would fit beautifully into a \"Shabby,\" \"Cottage Chic,\" \"Country Primitive,\" or \"Garden Style\" home.
