antique gadget cane . not one of those cheap German pipe canes this was custom made and is the real thing not an old contaner cane that someone just put an instrurment into.this fits exactly into the cane . pipe is 3in long ,ivory and i think ,briar wood. the cane is 35,5 in. long with a fat malacca shaft . replaced but very good two part ferrule. purchased 20yrs. ago at M.S.Rau ,the most exclusive cane shop in America. you can see today that they sell canes for thousands of dollars..dents in the top of the cane . clearly engraved 1887 as are the English hallmarks. rare and great cane.thick, strong and can be used
