"replica" Fire Plaque Post Wwii Measures 11" X 8.5":
Appears to a bronze Plaque 11" x 8 1/2" and 3/8" thick, weighs over 8 lbs., this is a great collectible even though it’s a "copy" and it is mounted on a wood board, see photos for condition. The original "fire mark" plaques were made and used from the early 1800's was mounted in front of a house that belonged to and paid a volunteer fire department, in the days before cities provided that public service. The story was that the fire department that this embossed plaque indicated would only fight "subscriber's" fires. This is disputed in many histories. If you have a better story, let me know and maybe I will share it. Email your questions, thank you RAF/WJ
