MUSEUM QUALITY CHINA NORTHERN WEI POTTERY BULL!!
Description: A PAINTED GREY POTTERY FIGURE OF A BULL NORTHERN WEI DYNASTY (386-534). A museum quality figure, much similar to one sold at Christies sales, SALE 2427 LOT 1281 at a hammer of $12,500. Our bull has some minor repair, but still one of the finest of it\'s kind in the world! The muscular beast modeled standing foursquare on a rectangular base, its well-formed head positioned between the large hump on its neck and the dewlap that hangs beneath. Fantastic details! Exceptionally well preserved pigment overall. This bull is part of an important small collection of fantastic funerary pottery from the Northern Wei Dynasty. Size: c. 14 cm. high and 16 cm. long.
This item comes in a costum made box. Condition: Choice! Small loss at the tip of the tail and a few cracklines visible on the legs, but is othervise in superb condition! It\'s possibly to fully restore the bull with no trace of the cracklines, but we leave this choice up to the buyer. The item comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and comes from an old esteemed Danish Collection. Est. $2000.
