Up for sale I have thisscarce c1784-90 King & Constitution royal garter gilt button. This buttonis an undug button that was found recently in a Victorian button box at saleso isn’t the usual type of dug button you see up for sale! Please judge foryourself the condition of the button from the pictures and if it’s in acondition you would be happy with. Buttons like this were worn by EnglishLoyalists in America and the UK to show political favour for England’s KingGeorge III. The clear design on the button is a central crown within a royalgarter with the KING & CONSTITUTION title above and below. Being an undugbutton the gilt on this is in great shape and none appears to have been lost.The button has only very lightly been cleaned so does still show signs of itsage though it could easily be cleaned more if you wish to do so. The buttoncomes complete with an unbroken rear shank and isn’t back stamped in any way.Approximate diameter of the button is 23mm and it weighs approx 4g. A scarcebutton that would make a great addition to any collection. Any questions justask as hopefully I’ll be able to help!
