1/6 plate ambrotype in leather over wood case in very nice condition. Photo is of a young woman with gold earrings and gold necklace/broach. In addition, she is holding what appears to be a gold chain in her right hand and has on a high-waisted belt. All the jewelry pieces have been hand colored to accentuate them. In addition, the woman\'s cheeks have been hand colored a rosy pink.
Another interesting aspect are the pencil written inscriptions behind the photo. \"P. Lutz\" is written/drawn in pencil along with two dates written in pencil on the inside of the case. One date reads \"March 23rd,1862\" and the other reads \"May 18th,1862\". Other than that, all I know is that this picture came from Indiana.Brown, embossed leather case shows very minimal wear and as you can see in the pictures, the spine is in excellent condition. Glass is original as is the gilt frame. Detailed clasp and closure works perfectly.
