CooL!... offered is a original, vintage MPC-Airfix (U.S.A.-England) Plastic Scale Model Construction Kit for a DOUGLAS SBD-3/5 DAUNTLESS American naval scout plane and dive bomber manufactured from 1940 through 1944. The SBD (\"Scout Bomber Douglas\") was the U.S. Navy\'s main carrier-borne scout plane and dive bomber from mid-1940 through mid-1944. The SBD was also flown by the U.S. Marine Corps, both from land air bases and aircraft carriers. The SBD is best remembered as the bomber that delivered the fatal blows to the Japanese carriers at the Battle of Midway in June 1942.Model Kit No. 7002-70 in 1/72 scale. This MPC \"Customizing\" series model is a original 1968-1971 produced kit licensed from Airfix Products Ltd. (London, England) by MPC (USA) with the box marked \"Made & Litho in U.S.A.\". Unassembled Plastic Model Kit requires glue and paint for finishing. Parts to build either a SBD-3 or a SBD-5 version are included. Excellent detail with pilot and rear gunner figures; rear facing machine guns; a large fuselage mounted bomb and two smaller underwing bombs; movable prop and wheels; and a clear plastic propeller disc (as a simulated spinning prop alternative). Special chrome customizing parts include a propeller; machine guns; bombs; rockets, chrome wheel hubs with vinyl tires; and other accessories. Decal sheet is included with wild \"Customizing\" decals as well as decals for a U.S. Navy flown SBD-3 of VSB-8 as flown off the U.S.S. Hornet in the Battle of the Coral Sea and the Battle of Midway as well as for a SBD-5 of the USMC (VMSB-231) as flown in 1944.While the box is not sealed, the aircraft parts are in a still sealed factory plastic bag with the assembly instruction sheet (showing slight age toning); decal sheet; and chrome customizing parts also present... a complete and unbuilt model kit but PLEASE NOTE: a Display Stand is shown on the box and pictured in the assembly instruction sheet but IS NOT present or included with this kit. The two-piece box is in about Good condition showing some mild crushing with several crease lines; general edge, corner and surface wear; large surface tears to several surfaces; much chipping with color loss to several edges; and some soiling and stain spots. Otherwise complete and tight.
