This is an antique ambrotype photo on two pieces of ruby glass.The earlier images used two pieces of glass glued together and the image was sandwiched between them.This technique was used from 1855 to about 1857.It is a 1/9 plate and is 2\" by 2 1/2\" and is in an ornate mat and preserver. It is in very good condition. Please email me if any questions.
