First of all, I must apologize for the fact that thisBurmese handwritten manuscript leaf is TOO LARGE for my scanner, so for the side with illustrations there are two parts (see the first two scanned images).
The sale is for one very large 18th century antique handwritten manuscript leaf, inthe Burmese language of Myanmar, which is the former country of Burma.This black paper has writing using the distinctive script with white ink.It is made of thick, hand-made paper, which is formed from mulberry pulp.Thesize is about 5 in. x 15 1/2 in. This includes Buddhistteachings, mythology, and studies in astrology and numerology. Thisparticular leaf has an illustration of a unique human figure holding up both arms with something in each hand and having a pointed cap on his head; also, the body of the man has a box with nine compartments (see the 1stscanned image). It also has five other geometric boxes with letters insideeach that forms a compartmentalized design (see the 1st and 2nd scanned images). Very interesting. This leaf has some stains and discoloration, due to its age and use overtime.
