Description

This beautiful vintage paper lace trim is 1 1/4\" wide, with heavily embossed scalloped edges. It is from Germany, from the 1920s, and was used to edge candy containers and all kinds of decorative embellishment. It is in amazing unused condition - I managed to purchase several designs, including some cream colored and gold. This one is a lovely silver which has tanned a bit on the back. It is guaranteed old and authentic - the old paper has a fragility to the feel, due to it\'s age, and will not be bright white, as there was always some acid in the paper. Acid comes from the tree pulp, and was very prevalent from around 1880 through 1980. Before that time there was a lot of rag (hence the slang term \"rag\" for newspaper) or cotton in the paper, which had little or no acid. This is why you can often find VERY old books and newspapers, but ones from Victorian Era on are damaged and brown. Anyway, this beautiful paper trim would be exceptional for repairing vintage ornaments and candy containers, or for creating new vintage pieces, or for ALL kinds of crafts. I have a very limited amount, so am selling it by the yard.
