This White Ogre Hopi Kachina Doll was made by Milton Howard, Hopi Indian, master Kachina carver. This Native American White Ogre Kachina Doll is superb in detail. From the fine lines of the feather work, the detail in the pueblos to the carving of his knuckles. The time and effort and talent is evident with every stroke of this carver. Milton uses stain to bring out the natural wood grain of the customary cottonwood root, along with paint to enhance and show more detail. He takes the time, with what you can only imagine the patience it must demand, to feature and enhance every tiny detail line, as is the remarkably small lines he carves. This Hopi Indian White Ogre Kachina Doll is 10-1/2\" tall, 4\" wide and 5\" long. This White Ogre Hopi Kachina Doll is Signed - M. Howard.

His exquisitepieces of art are exhibited in the finest galleries around the world and arehighly sought after!

** Master carver Milton Howard is world renown for his carving skills and many collectors snap up his creations when available. His works of art are found in some of the finest art galleries around the world. The Kachina doll is given in hopes of abundance and health as well as for education. The Hopis were the original carvers, using a single piece of cottonwood root. The Navajo began carving in their own creative way, adding feathers, fur and leather to their creations. There are over 350 Kachina dolls, each with its own attributes. **

Milton Howard, Master Kachina carver, Show in the last Picture holding one of his Incredible carvings was born on Feb. 8, 1964 in Tuba City, Arizona on the Navajo-Hopi reservation. His father, also a Kachina carver, is from the Third Mesa area, and his mother is from the Rocky Ridge area. He is married and has three children. He spent most of his adult life in Albuquerque where he earned his electrician certificate and began selling his carvings, and in Phoenix, where he perfected his art.

He took up carving as a young boy, learning from other members of his family, but he was not serious about it until he was living in Albuquerque, in his early twenties, going to school to be an electrician and carving with his cousins, Jerry and Dan Bert, in his free time. He sold his dolls to his class mares, carving Kachinas for orders only. Needless to say, his classmates were very impressed with his talent.

After moving to Phoenix, he began working with another cousin, Dennis Ross, learning and practicing new techniques and styles, meanwhile, getting to know some of the gallery owners and buyers in nearby Scottsdale, who were eager to purchase his dolls because of their high quality and low prices.

A few years later, at about 30 years of age he made the decision to start carving full time. His art is now found in the finest galleries around the world and because his work is extraordinary and his prices are so reasonable, many serious collectors have obtained his dolls. The intricate details symbolize a lot of his beliefs, and what he has come to know as very sacred and divine to his culture.

Since these are hand made items and cottonwood roots all differ some slight variations will occur from piece to piece.
