Stanley’s Metal Seals were manufactured in Dayton, Ohio from around 1911 until the late 1920’s. (Not to be confused with Stanley Tools.) After that time, some of their old stock was used to decorate paper greeting cards. They made embossed metal labels for perfume bottles and decorations for vanity items, like women’s powder compacts. They made metal seals for many holidays and events including Christmas, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, birthdays, party favors, Mother’s Day and new babies. They had several different alphabets for monogramming personal items. They made some items that appear to be special orders, including name/address labels for doctors, Masonic symbols and college seals. Dr. Stanley (he was an ophthalmologist) had several patents for the manufacturing process of these metal seals.
