This vintage Hopi Kachina Doll was hand carved sometimes in the late 20th century Circa. 1980s. This wonderful cottonwood root Koshari Clown is both sacred & profane & in this example represents the overindulgence of watermelons which signifies gluttony. The actions, while highly amusing, are not what the Hopi or anyone else would like to be caught doing in public. Sitting on a natural cottonwood root, you can\'t help but smile along with his mischievous behavior & engaging smile. Watermelon slices, a medicine bag & breech cloth provide simple but traditional accents. He even sports hand painted cowboy boots. He measures about 13\" tall including the base & about 6\" wide. The base is signed Clown & Morez Smith. We had this doll professionally Cleaned & restored by Hopi master Kachina Doll maker, Milton Howard.
His exquisitepieces of art are exhibited in the finest galleries around the world and arehighly sought after!
