האציל מארק אנטוניו יושטינייאן, שהקים את בית דפוסו לספרים עבריים חמש שנים קודם לכן בשנת 1545,העתיק בגנבה את הגהות מהר\"ם פאדובה שנדפסו ע\"י המדפיס בראגדין.המהר\"ם פאדובה - מחבר ההגהות - פנה לחכמי פולין ולבן-דודו הרמ\"א,ראה שו\"ת הרמ\"א סימן יוד
והם אסרו את קניית מהדורתו של יושטינייאן.
סכסוך זה בין שני המדפיסים הנוצריים, הביא להלשנות ולהוצאת דיבה אצל האפיפיורמעשה שגרם בסופו של דבר לגזירת שריפת הספרים באיטליה, בשנת שי\"דדפים נדירים במיוחד שכן בגזירת שריפת הספרים נשרפו הרבה עותקים ממהדורות אלו

- Disputed Edition that Preceded the Burning of the Talmud in Italy -
11 Mishne Torah L\'HaRambam, with Migdal Oz, Magid Mishne and glosses by Maharam Padua.. [Venice, 1550. Bragadin Printing press]
This edition was printed by Alois Bragadin, which opened in 1550, his printing of Hebrew prints, and printed the edition of Maimonides that was presented here, which was dictated by a team of Jewish proofreaders headed by Rabbi Meir [the Maharam] Padova, The most important of which were the sages of Italy, and he added his novellae - \"Glosses of the Maharam Padova.
\" In the same year his rival, Justinian, published a parallel edition,secretly copying some of the \"Maharam Padoa\" definitions of the Bragadin edition.
From Merom Padova he turned to the wise men of Poland and to his high-ranking cousin - forofferding the purchase of the edition of Justinian. This dispute between the two Christian printers eventually led to the burning of books in Italy in 1553

This edition is a rival copy of the Bragadin edition printed in the same year in Venice. Marco Antonio Justinian, who founded his printing press for Hebrew books five years earlier in 1545, copied glosses by the Maharam of Padua printed by Bragadin. The Maharam Padua, author of the glosses, applied to Polish sages and to his cousin the Rama and they prohibited the purchase of Justinian\'s edition.
This dispute between the two Christian printers finally led to the decree of burning books issued in Italy in 1553.
