Offered here isan ORIGINAL HERBAL LEAFPRINTED IN 1586. The leaf is in very good antiquarian condition.

The leaf measures 9.0 inches x 14.0 inches and is printed on laid paper. The leaf is hinge mounted inits original ‘Nissen’ folder with an applied label as shown.

The image in this plate of Mattioli\'s \'Kreuterbuch\' shows the \'Agarico\' or Mushroom on the front and the rhubarb on the rear.

Provenance:

This rareantiquarian leaf is from an imperfect copy of Claus Nissen’s ‘Herbalsof Five Centuries’ wherein he collected 50 leaves from imperfect copiesfrom the best Herbal’s printed since the invention of printing. Many of theseleaves are quite rare and apart from this particular work or another imperfectcopy are scarcely if ever found.
