A leaf from a Liturgical Manuscript, Seeon Monastery, Upper Bavaria, 1650 Manuscript in Latin, written in Roman and Gothic hands with music in red and black throughout, recto and verso, on laid paper, occasional marginal soiling and minor stains, with bookplate dated 1634 of Honorat Kolb, Abbot of Seeon Monastery. The Seeon Monastery was a Benedictine monastery was founded by Aribo I, Count Palatine in 994 and inhabited by monks from St. Emmeram in Regensburg. During the 11th century, an important \"scriptorium\" was established, principally at the behest of Holy Roman emperor Henry II, founder of the diocese of Bamberg. Under the guidance of Abbot Honorat Kolb, comprehensive rebuilding and extension work was carried out, unfortunately, however in 1803 the monastery was dissolved. In 1804, with the exception of the church and sacristy, chapter house, treasury, the monks\' choir, cloisters and quadrangle, the entire monastery complex, including all its fields and forests, was sold to master baker Franz Xaver Distler from Munich. Distler and his family set up in business as master brewers on the premises. This particular leaf contains the text for the Mass that is celebrated on the 3rd Sunday after Pentecost. This leaf also contains the Gospel of Luke 15, 1-10. The versowritten in Roman and Gothic hands with music in red and black throughout, recto and verso, on laid paper, occasional marginal soiling and minor stains, with bookplate dated 1634 of Honorat Kolb, Abbot of Seeon Monastery.
