This is a very interesting old military helmet. The helmet looks like a Ming Dynasty Chinese Army Helmet. I came across this helmet at an estate sale in Ohio. The helmet is iron hand forged steel and riveted construction. The bowl has gold inlaid dragons all around it\'s exterior along with the steel brim. The forged steel surface has a very old coating of black paint that has long since worn away. The helmet retains all of its scale neck armor and is complete. All steel forged rivets are present. I have done some research and this helmet looks very similar to 16th/17th Century Chinese Mongolian and Korean helmets. The gold dragons on the helmet symbolizes the soldiers ability to transform in battle according to their ancient beliefs. The helmet has a nice old overall untouched patina with remnants of very old worn black paint. This is a really interesting early military helmet and it is complete without repairs, missing parts or damages.
