This item is a wonderful, original document dated 1736, offerdeford, Maine, where Moses Durrell has gifted to his daughter Sarah Rumery half of all his property and land rights...signed at bottom by Moses Durel, John Sharp Jr., and Sarah Brooks. Document is 8x12, folds, toned with repairs on center fold, else in overall good condition.

Moses DURRELL born circa 1650 Gloucester MA; died circa 1753 offerdeford ME ; family originally from Channel Islands by tradition; soldier in King Phillip\'s War.

Sarah DURRELL born circa 1690 Scarborough York ME; baptized 8/15/1703 Gloucester Essex MA; died 6/28/1776 Saco/offerdeford ME; married 1724-5 offerdeford York ME.Spouse: EDWARD RUMERY born 1685 offerdeford York ME; died before 4/5/1762 Saco ME.

MOSES DURRELL was a soldier enlisted from Gloucester Mass in the Narrangansett war in 1675. The participants were promised besides their pay grants of land but for 57 years during which time many of the soldiers died this promise remained unfulfilled. However in 1733 Narragansett No 1 now Buxton Me was granted to one hundred and twenty of the soldiers.
