Excellent example of a hand forged rifleman\'s knife,last quarter of the 18th century-early 19th century.Overall 13-3/4 inches long.Blade maybe made from a file,is double edged at the tip,has a center fuller & numerous file marks.Shows age staining & a few light pitting spots.Thrust style blade is thin & stiff,& is 7-7/8 inches long.Hilt is deer antler,just over 6 inches long,& is tight to the blade.No cross guard as usual on early examples.More fighting knife than utility knife.
