A set of seven very scarce religious pamphlets including dissenters.

Taking the form of sermons, the works here are indicative of an era in which pamphleteering was a central part of both religion and religious politics, used to quell dissent in amongst the masses and keep them in line with the thought of the authors. Here, the works take a stand against dissenting ministers, as well as prostestant dissenters, with a variety of other topics also dealt with.

CONDITION

In half-calf binding. Externally, the rear board is detached but present and there is significant loss lifting to backstrip, as well as wear to the extremties and joints, boards and backstrips. Internally, the pages are firmly bound and are generally bright and clean, though there are several pamphlets with more prominent spotting, as well as loss to several pages of the fifth pamphlet included. Overall: FAIR.
