This item is a wonderful, original document dated 1774, Hopkinton, Massachusetts, where Dr. John Wilson has written to the selectmen of Lancaster, Massachusetts regarding the fine attributes of  Dr. Samuel Cooly of whom he is well acquainted. Letter is 8x10, folds, blank outer leaf removed, irregular left side, else in overall good condition.

John Wilson,was born at Framingham, MA Oct 17, 1721 and was graduated from Harvard College in 1741 and settled as a practitioner of medicine in Hopkinton, MA. He subsequentlyserved in the war of the Revolution as surgeon, in company with his brother-in-law, Dr. John Mousey of Providence, R.I., both being in Colonel Bullard\'s regiment..
