This listing is for the excellent Bible shown. HasOld Testament, New Testament and Apocrypha. Also included is handwritten note of the Cumberland fire which wiped out much of the Hoffman estate. See references below. There is a quack medicine handwritten recipe for the cure of dropsy using bees and warm milk.
Bible appears complete, mostly clean pages, with good binding for age;tight binding on mostpages withsome pages at the end detached but included and these pages show wear and tear mostly on edges.. A couple of the pages have tears on edge or slits. Mostly good. Missing a marbled endpaper. Back cover is mostly detached, hanging on by a thread.
Ornate corners intact, with wear as shown. The clasp is missing. 4 corners have embossed metal pieces. some of the corners of the metal pieces are bent or missing as shown.
Looks much better in person than photographed because we tended to show you the flaws. But most of the book is awesome.
Some full page engravings in the beginning of the book.
Attached inside the book is a pastedown colonial Hoffman family record from Cumberland, Maryland 1765-1830s.
Measures approx 16\" x 10\" x 3.5\" thick.
