Description

We are pleased to offer a selection of original hand-colored copper engravings from the first edition of Icones Plantarum Medicinalium by J. Zorn, published in Nurnberg 1799-1790. This is anextremely rare work, in pristine condition, illustrating a wide variety of botanicals such as iris, water lily, violet, strawberry, herbs, spices & many more. The coloring is brilliant, much more vivid & fresh than is commonly found in this very antique work.

The prints are on a heavy, chain-lined paper with some bearing watermarks and all with strong plate marks. Each print measures approximately 4 1/2 inches wide by 8 inches long, with no foxing and absolutely no text offset. There is no descriptive text, but a copy of the tile page will accompany each print. This work is almost 225 years old. Please inspect the images carefully as they are quite accurate.

Payment

We send invoices after each sale. Do not pay if you wish to combine for up to 15 days, but pay when ready to ship. Panteek is required to declare full value of the items and buyers are responsible for all customs duties.

USPS is our primary shipper but we can use other shippers as requested. We are delighted to combine shipments to save on postage up to 15 days. Because of regulations, please wait to pay until ready to ship. We are required by to ship within one day any lots that you have paid for.

Terms of Sale

We sell only original antique prints of proven authenticity bought mostly at sale houses throughout Europe, America, and Asia. We do not sell reproductions of any kind. Authenticity is guaranteed and we strive to buy prints and books at the very top of the condition range. However, as the items are sometimes very old small defects are to be expected including foxing, toning, and occasional spotting.

Many prints have original hand colouring while others issued originally black & white will be hand coloured at a later date sometimes by our colourist in England and Italy. Hand colouring is a dying art and we are honored to have the services of some of the best remaining colourists in the world.

We will note any condition issues in our description along with details about the colouring. Please view the images carefully as they are scans or photos of the actual print you will receive.

Items can be returned within30 days for a full refund.
